The school year's nearly done--one more week of classes. My students played well for their final group recital. My graduate student gives her final recital this week, and then she's off to the Cleveland Institute. And my final lectures veer toward the avant-garde: Ligeti's Le Grand Macabre and Thomas Ades' Life Story and the opera Powder Her Face. Fantastic stuff, and I'm kind of envious of them for getting to hear it all for the first time.
I hope I won't get too weepy for my last lecture. I'm going to try and summarize my ideas about physicality and performance, and why the material of this course has been significant to my personal journey.
